SELAH, Wash. — No serious injuries were reported Friday evening when a semi driver forced a small car off Interstate 82 by making an unsafe lane change, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The collision happened about 5:20 p.m. 11 miles north of Selah as both vehicles were eastbound.

When the truck changed lanes it forced the car off the highway where it struck a guardrail before returning to the highway and striking the truck, troopers said.

The driver of the Toyota Tercel — Lisa Helmer, 36, of East Wenatchee was treated at a Yakima hospital for bruised head and then released.

Her passenger — Nicole Helmer, 15, of East Wenatchee — was not hurt, according to a patrol news release.

The semi driver — Beverly Dorn, 39, of Chickamauga, Ga. — was not hurt. She was expected to receive a ticket for making an unsafe lane change, troopers said.

All occupants were wearing seat belts. Intoxicants were not suspects, according to the news release.
