A Sandersville man was killed and his grandson was critically injured this morning after their car collided with a logging truck on Ga. 24 this morning, officials said.

Washington County coroner E.K. May said Ralph Jackson of Sandersville died when his Mercury Grand Marquis collided with a logging truck driven by Wyman Landers of Stapleton around 10:30 a.m. Jackson died during the crash, May said.

His grandson, Chris Jackson, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he is in critical condition, May said.

May said the crash was an accident and that no charges were being filed against Landers.
